Catalyst Science Magazine was founded at Canyon Crest Academy (CCA) in 2011, by Claudia See (’13) and Alice Wu (’13), in order to provide a platform for high school students an accessible way to showcase their scientific and creative knowledge, while also encouraging readers to stay informed about the latest scientific news. While it is based at CCA, Catalyst invites high school students from all around San Diego County to submit articles including editorial pieces, news updates, or their own original research. Students are also encouraged to draw, design, and work with professional layout and design software to illustrate and create visually effective spreads. Through this process, they learn both technical and collaborative skills, and students ultimately gain a unique practical experience that benefits them in their future education and beyond.
